INTRODUCTION
The Directorate of Academic Technologists is an important technical and academic support unit of the Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi (FUAMB). The Directorate is established to coordinate, supervise and promote the activities of Academic Technologists who provide essential technical support for teaching, practical instruction, research, innovation and laboratory services within the University.
The Directorate serves as a link between academic departments and the technical facilities required for effective practical training. Academic Technologists support lecturers and students in laboratories, workshops, studios, farms and other specialized facilities by ensuring that equipment, materials and technical procedures are properly managed.

To provide effective technical and professional support through competent and well-trained Academic Technologists, modern equipment, properly maintained laboratories and workshops, and the application of appropriate safety standards in order to enhance teaching, research, innovation and community service.
To become a centre of excellence in the coordination and development of highly skilled Academic Technologists who provide efficient technical support for world-class teaching, research, innovation and practical training at the Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi.
Main Functions
- Coordination of Academic Technologists:Coordinate and supervise the activities of Academic Technologists across faculties, departments, laboratories and specialized units.
- Technical Support for Teaching:Provide technical assistance for practical classes, demonstrations, laboratory exercises and other hands-on academic activities.
- Research Support: Assist academic staff, researchers and students in conducting laboratory and field research.
- Laboratory and Equipment Management:Ensure the proper installation, operation, maintenance and management of laboratory equipment and other technical facilities.
- Safety and Compliance: Promote compliance with laboratory safety procedures, environmental regulations and other relevant institutional standards.
- Practical Training:Support the acquisition of practical and technical skills by students in agriculture, science, technology and related disciplines.
- Training and Capacity Development: Organize seminars, workshops and training programmes for Academic Technologists to improve their technical knowledge and professional competence.
- Technical Innovation: Encourage the development, adaptation and application of new technologies and innovative techniques for solving academic, agricultural and scientific problems.
- Inventory and Procurement Support:Assist in the preparation of technical specifications for equipment, tools, reagents and other laboratory materials, while maintaining appropriate inventory records.
- Quality Assurance:Promote quality assurance in laboratory and technical services to support the University’s academic standards.
