INTRODUCTION
The Academic Planning Directorate (APD) of the Federal University of Agriculture Mubi was established in 2025 under the Office of the Vice-Chancellor. It is headed by Dr. Salihu Suleiman, an Associate Professor and pioneer Director appointed to coordinate and supervise all academic planning activities within the University.
The Directorate serves as the University’s central unit for academic coordination, quality assurance, strategic planning, data management, and regulatory compliance. It acts as the primary link between the University and external agencies such as the National Universities Commission (NUC), Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Its key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with NUC standards, preparing departments for accreditation and resource verification exercises, coordinating curriculum development and review, managing academic statistics, facilitating staff development opportunities, and supporting admission processes. The Directorate also collects and analyses institutional data to produce annual reports, pocket statistics, and information required for national and international university rankings.
The APD supports strategic decision-making by providing analyses and projections on student enrolment, staff workload, revenue generation, infrastructure needs, and graduation rates. It collaborates with faculties and departments to establish new academic programmes and improve existing ones to meet societal and national development needs.
The Directorate has recorded significant achievements in academic quality assurance and programme development, including the successful resource verification and approval of thirteen (13) academic programmes by the NUC.
Supported by a dedicated team of academic, planning, and administrative staff, the APD contributes significantly to strengthening university governance, improving teaching and research quality, and advancing the mission and vision of the Federal University of Agriculture Mubi.
