Prof. Bitrus Dawi Tarfa

Prof. Bitrus Dawi Tarfa, was born on 1st May 1963 at Garkida , Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State. He started his Primary Education at North Garkida Primary school, Gombi Local and obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in 1978. He then had his Secondary School Education at Government Science Secondary School, Hong and obtained his WAEC Certificate in 1983. He attended the School of Basic Studied (SBS) in the famous Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria from 1983 and completed his one year program in 1984 and gained Admission in the same ABU to read B. Agriculture, where he graduated with 2nd Class Upper Division in 1988. Bitrus Tarfa was appointed as Assistant Lecturer in ABU in 1990. He completed his M.Sc and PhD (Soil Science) at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1995 and 2001 respectively. Professor Bitrus Dawi Tarfa has 22 additional Academic Certificates in various International and National Trainings and 5 Certificates in Sports . His working and Leadership career started in 1989/90 were he was appointed assistant Lectures in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1990 and rose to the rank of Professor in 2000. He Served in Various Committees and capacities in ABU Zaria (Faculty of Agriculture GENS representative, Program Leader Food Science and Technology and Assistant Director Research in IAR ABU Zaria). He has served many Universities and International organizations on Sabbatical appointments and External Examiners He also served at a Board Member Adamawa State College of Agriculture, Ganye. He taught more than 22 courses at Undergraduate and Post Graduate levels in the Universities and Supervised and Graduated more than 30 post graduate students. He was Principal Investigator for more than 20 International and National projects and has more than 50 publications in International and National journals . Professor Bitrus Dawi Tarfa has conducted more than 25 Consultancy Services at International and National levels. He is a Member of Soil Science Society of Nigeria ,Horticultural Society of Nigeria, Weed Science Society of Nigeria, and West and Central Africa Maize Research Network. He won the best graduating students Award in Field Practical Training by Truck Manufacturing Company Кало, in 1988. He is the current National President of Garkida Development Association, Married with children
